There is no better way to celebrate St. Paddy's day and spring than with this Dairy-Free Shamrock Shake. My version is a rich, creamy and minty treat without the artificial dyes and processed ingredients that the McDonald's version has. It's festive, can be whipped up in about 5 minutes and uses delicious ingredients like fresh mint, peppermint extract, banana, dairy-free vanilla ice cream and dairy-free milk.

When I was younger, I always looked forward to getting Shamrock Shakes from McDonald's. Several years ago, I developed a dairy allergy, along with many other food allergies, and I am no longer able to have them! I also learned about the artificial colors and dyes that are in them as well!
I wanted to make a festive treat that is allergy-friendly and also still fun! I also used festive touches like green sprinkles, fresh mint and dairy-free mini chocolate chips. You can decorate it however you want and it's so quick to whip up!
Ingredients

To make this recipe dairy-free, I used dairy-free whipped cream, milk, vanilla ice cream and chocolate chips.
In order to make the milkshake green, I used matcha powder.
I used peppermint extract combined with fresh mint to give the milkshake a minty flavor.

Tips & Tricks
If you want a stronger mint flavor, add more peppermint extract.
If you do not have a frozen banana on hand, you can use a fresh banana but it will make the milkshake thinner. To balance it out, you can add more ice cream, but make sure to also add more matcha and peppermint extract to preserve the minty flavor and the green color!
Variations
Toppings: I used whipped cream, sprinkles, fresh mint and chocolate chips and chocolate chips as toppings! You can also try topping your milkshake with a dark chocolate drizzle, cacao nibs, crushed cookies and/or a cherry!
Milk: I used vanilla almond milk in this recipe, but you can use any dairy-free milk you like. Try out coconut or cashew milk too!
Protein: Add vanilla protein powder to this recipe to make it more nutrient-dense and for blood sugar balance.
