    They’re fun to make!

This recipe only needs a few ingredients.

    Equipment Needed

To make these patriotic cake bites, you will need a baking pan for the cake, a mixing bowl and a baking sheet.

    Ingredients Needed

Chocolate Cake Mix: Using a cake mix helps these cake bites come together much more quickly, but you can always bake the chocolate cake from scratch if you prefer!

Chocolate Chips: I love using Enjoy Life chocolate chips because they are super allergy-friendly and delicious!

Frosting: Use your favorite chocolate frosting here or feel free to make your own as well!

White Chocolate Chips: I love using Enjoy Life white chocolate chips because they are top 14-free.

Sprinkles: Red, white and blue sprinkles are super fun to use for the holidays! You could also switch it up and make these for any occasion by using rainbow sprinkles instead.

Food Dye: I like to use natural food dyes!

    Patriotic Cake Bites

    Step-By-Step Instructions

Bake cake according to package, adding in 3/4 cup chocolate chips to the batter. Once cooled, crumble the cake and pour into a large mixing bowl. Add in 3/4 cup of your favorite allergy-friendly chocolate frosting. Combine and place mixture in the fridge for 10 minutes to firm. Roll into 1-inch balls and place on baking sheet or plate.

Place cake bites back in the fridge for 1 hour or until firm. Reserve 1/8 cup of white chocolate chips. Melt the remaining white chocolate. Dip each cake bite into white chocolate until it is fully covered.

Immediately pour sprinkles on half of the cake bites and drizzle the other half with blue and red-dyed white chocolate. (To make the colored white chocolate melt 1/8 cup white chocolate chips, divide into 2 small bowls and add 1-2 drops of blue food coloring to one and 1-2 drops of red food coloring to the other). Place cake bites into the fridge once more for about 1 hour to harden and then enjoy!

    Substitutions or Variations

Feel free to substitute chocolate cake mix with another kind! You can also use homemade cake and frosting if you prefer.

    Storage

These cake bites can be stored in the fridge for 5 days or you can freeze them!

    Recipe FAQs

    Are these nut-free?

As long as you make sure all of your ingredients are nut free, then yes!

Can you swap out the chocolate cake mix for another cake mix?

Yes! Feel free to use vanilla cake or any other cake mix that you prefer!
