This pretty toast is the ultimate quick lunch, party appetizer or snack! Plain toast can be boring and this is an incredible way to dress it up! This Toast Tuesday, let’s ditch the beige and elevate your toast game with some beautiful, springtime flair! Spring and summer are all about fresh flavors and vibrant colors. Imagine serving your guests (or yourself!) a plate of toast adorned with cute edible flowers, topped with garden-fresh herbs and bursting with color! This flavor combination is fresh and delicious and the best part is that this toast comes together in less than 10 minutes! Be sure to also check out my Easter toast recipe, which is equally as cute!

    Why You’ll Love This Toast

It is so pretty and impressive!

This toast is bursting with fresh and delicious flavors.

This recipe is so easy to make and comes together in about 10 minutes.

It is easy to make gluten free, dairy free and adapt to other dietary restrictions.

This recipe is so fun to make!

    It is kid-friendly.

This pretty toast is perfect for Easter, spring or summertime!

    Equipment Needed

All you need to make this pretty toast is a cutting board, a knife, toaster and a plate.

    Ingredients Needed

Bread: Use your favorite kind of bread! I used gluten free bread because I am gluten free.

Cream Cheese: This recipe tastes delicious with chive cream cheese. I used vegan cream cheese here because I am dairy free, but feel free to use regular cream cheese.

Tomatoes: These grape tomatoes make the perfect flowers! I like to use a variety of colors.

Chives: The chives act as the flower stems!

Basil: Basil adds a freshness to this toast and also acts as the flower leaves.

    Step-By-Step Instructions

    Step 1: Gather your ingredients.

Step 2: Toast the bread. While the bread is toasting, make the tomato flowers by cutting an X into the top of the tomato and scooping out the seeds.

Step 3: Spread cream cheese on the toast, add tomatoes, stems and leaves. Enjoy!

    How to Make Tomato Flowers

Here are detailed instructions on how to make the tomato flowers:

Grab a sharp knife. Place your mini tomato on a cutting board. Carefully slice the tomato down the center, but not all the way through. You want the base to hold everything together. Repeat the cut at a 90-degree angle, creating a cross-shaped incision. This will give you four “petal” sections. Using the tip of your knife, gently nudge the “petals” open slightly. You can also carefully remove some of the seeds and pulp for a cleaner look. Voila! Place your tomato flower on your toast and admire your handiwork.

    Storage

If you have leftovers, it is best to store the tomatoes, toast, herbs and cream cheese separately in airtight containers.

    How to Serve

This pretty toast can be eaten as a snack, part of a quick lunch or as part of a celebration, like Easter. Create a beautiful display by arranging a variety of flower toast flavors on a large platter. This is a great option for a brunch spread or to serve as an appetizer at a party. Scatter fresh herbs or edible flowers strategically for a finishing touch.

    Variations

Bread: The bread options are endless here. Opt for white bread, wheat bread, sourdough, English muffins or gluten free bread.

Cream Cheese: This pretty toast can be made with chive cream cheese, plain cream cheese or any kind of cream cheese you desire! Try experimenting with flavors like strawberry or cinnamon. Use vegan or dairy free cream cheese, if needed.

Flowers: I made the flowers out of tomatoes, but try using grapes or another vegetable or fruit instead! Get creative!

Drizzle: A drizzle of balsamic glaze, honey, or olive oil adds a touch of sophistication and extra flavor.
