    Why You’ll Love This Toast

It is easy to make and comes together in about 10 minutes!

This recipe is so cute and impressive!

    It is kid-friendly.

This toast makes for the perfect breakfast or brunch.

This recipe is a great addition to your Easter spread!

It is so fun to make and an amazing way to get creative in the kitchen.

This recipe calls for minimal ingredients that you probably already have on hand.

    Equipment Needed

All you need to make this Easter toast is a pan, toaster, knife, cutting board and a plate.

    Ingredients Needed

Bread: The bread options are endless here. Opt for white bread, wheat bread, sourdough, English muffins or gluten free bread.

Oil: You will need oil to fry the eggs in. I like to use avocado oil here.

Eggs: I like to use high-quality eggs when possible, like Vital Farms brand.

Chocolate Chips: I used mini chocolate chips for the chicks’ eyes!

Carrot: I used a carrot to make the nose and feet.

    Step-By-Step Instructions

    Step 1: Gather your ingredients.

Step 2: Fry your eggs in a pan and toast the bread.

Step 3: While the eggs are frying, cut your carrot into feet and a nose.

Step 4: Assemble the toasts by placing the egg on top of the toast, chocolate chip eyes on top of the egg yolk and adding the carrot nose and carrot feet. Enjoy!

How to Make a Sunny Side Up Egg

Making a perfect sunny side up egg is all about gentle heat and patience. Use medium-low heat to heat your pan. This is key to evenly cooking the whites without burning them. Put a drizzle of oil in the pan and swirl it to coat the bottom. Crack the egg on a flat surface (like a small plate) first. This helps ensure you don’t get any shell fragments in your pan. Then, gently slide the egg from the plate into the hot pan. Resist the urge to touch or move the egg! You want the whites to set around the yolk. This will take about 2-3 minutes, depending on your heat and how runny you like your yolk. The whites should be mostly set, with perhaps a slightly translucent ring around the yolk. If you gently nudge the yolk with your spatula and it jiggles slightly, it’s done!

    How to Cut the Carrot

Cut the round carrot in half. Take one of the halves and cut it again lengthwise into two thin slices.

To make the feet: Begin with a small square and cut two “V” shapes into the bottom to make the feet.

To make the beak: Cut a small triangle.

    Storage

If you have leftovers, I would recommend storing the bread, carrots, chocolate and eggs all separate from one another.

    Variations

Bread: Any type of bread can be used for this Easter toast! Try using white, wheat, rye, sourdough or focaccia. If you are gluten free, you can use gluten free bread.

Eyes: I used mini chocolate chips for eyes. You can use anything though! Try using sprinkles, olives, candies, frosting or ketchup. Get creative!

Feet: I made the feet using carrots, but you can use any vegetable you have on hand!

    How to Serve

This Easter toast can be eaten as a snack, part of a quick lunch or as part of a celebration or party. Create a beautiful display by arranging a variety of Easter toasts on a large platter. This is a great option for a brunch spread or to serve as an appetizer at a party. Scatter fresh herbs or edible flowers strategically for a finishing touch.
