Bone broth hot chocolate is the coziest, gut-friendly treat offering a nutrient-dense twist on the classic beverage that’s both delicious and packed with health benefits. Imagine curling up by the fire in the cold winter, enveloped in the warmth of a steaming mug that not only satisfies your chocolate desires but also nourishes your body with collagen-rich bone broth, silky cacao and essential vitamins and minerals! I have to be honest, I was a little bit nervous about this one, but you can’t taste the bone broth! It’s simply rich, creamy, chocolatey goodness that warms your body and soul from the inside out. The best part is that it only takes about 10 minutes to make!

Why You’ll Love This Hot Chocolate

    It’s the coziest winter drink!

This bone broth hot chocolate has tons of benefits and is nutrient-dense.

It’s so easy to make and only takes about 10 minutes.

This is the perfect drink for chocolate lovers!

It satisfies all of your sweet cravings.

You can’t even taste the bone broth!

It can be made gluten free and dairy free.

    What is Bone Broth?

Bone broth is a flavorful, mineral-rich liquid made by simmering animal bones and connective tissue in water for an extended period, typically several hours. This slow and gentle cooking process extracts the nutrients from the bones, infusing the broth with a wealth of goodness, including:

    • Collagen: This abundant protein supports healthy joints, skin, and gut.
    • Gelatin: A byproduct of collagen, gelatin gives bone broth its signature silky texture and is thought to aid digestion and gut health.
    • Minerals: Bone broth is a natural source of calcium, magnesium, phosphorus, and potassium, crucial for bone health, muscle function, and overall well-being.
    • Amino acids: These building blocks of protein contribute to tissue repair, enzyme production, and immune function.

More than just a trendy health drink, bone broth has been a culinary staple for centuries, used in soups, stews, sauces and gravies to add depth of flavor and essential nutrients. Today, it’s enjoyed in various ways, from sipping it plain to incorporating it into nourishing meals and even creative concoctions like bone broth hot chocolate!

Whether you’re seeking a comforting winter warmer, a gut-healing elixir or a flavorful base for your culinary creations, bone broth offers a unique and versatile way to nourish your body from within.

    Equipment Needed

All you need to make this bone broth hot chocolate is a pan and a spoon!

    Ingredients Needed

Bone Broth: Bone broth is the star of this recipe! It is super nutrient-dense and has so many benefits. I look for organic bone broth with simple ingredients. Feel free to use any kind of bone broth, but I used beef bone broth in this recipe.

Milk: I used coconut milk here to make this bone broth hot chocolate creamy! I make sure to use coconut milk that has no gums or fillers.

Cacao Powder: Cacao powder, the unsweetened form of cocoa, is a powerhouse of health benefits thanks to its rich concentration of antioxidants, minerals and other key nutrients. This gives the bone broth hot chocolate it’s chocolatey flavor.

Vanilla: Vanilla is sweet and elevates other flavors, making them richer and more harmonious.

Chocolate Chips: I love adding chocolate chips to this drink to make it extra chocolatey! Feel free to skip them if you desire. I used dairy free chocolate chips here because I am dairy free.

Sweetener: I used honey in this recipe. Some alternative options would be agave, maple syrup or coconut sugar.

Salt: My favorite salt is Redmond’s Real Salt because it is high-quality and made with zero fillers. If you use my discount code LESSWITHLAUR you can get 15% off Redmond’s website.

Step 2: Combine all ingredients in a pot and cook over low-medium heat for 5 minutes, or until hot.

    Toppings

Toppings are completely optional, but can add some extra flavor and fun to this bone broth hot chocolate!

Try topping your drink with sprinkles, crushed candy cane, marshmallows or coconut whipped cream.

    Variations

Here are some other fun ways to mix up this bone broth hot chocolate:

Try swapping the vanilla extract for almond extract or peppermint extract.

Adding cinnamon is a great way to add extra flavor and enhance the drink’s depth.

    Storage

Allow the bone broth hot chocolate to cool completely before storing it. Pour the bone broth hot chocolate into an airtight container, such as a mason jar. Label the container with the date and store it in the refrigerator for 3-4 days.

    Recipe FAQ

Can you store this bone broth hot chocolate overnight?

Yes! It can be stored overnight in an airtight container.
