Why You’ll Love This Winter Smoothie

This smoothie is packed with so many good-for-you ingredients!

It’s a great way to change up your morning breakfast.

    This smoothie is kid-friendly!

It is packed with fruits and veggies.

This smoothie has the warming properties of ginger!

    It also has manuka honey!

This smoothie is so easy to make and only takes a few minutes to whip up!

    Equipment Needed

All you need to make this smoothie is a blender! My favorite blender is my Kitchen Aid.

    Ingredients Needed

Milk: I used dairy free milk because I’m dairy free, but feel free to use any milk you choose. Some options are almond milk, coconut milk or pistachio milk.

Pomegranate Juice: Pomegranate juice is brimming with antioxidants. These powerful compounds combat free radicals in the body, reducing oxidative stress linked to various chronic diseases. Be sure to select a pomegranate juice that does not contain extra sugar.

Carrots: Carrots are renowned for their rich content of beta-carotene, which the body converts into vitamin A. Vitamin A is crucial for maintaining healthy vision. They are also loaded with vitamin C, an essential antioxidant that bolsters the immune system and helps fight off infections.

Zucchini: Zucchini is packed with fiber and vitamin C. You also cannot taste it at all in this winter smoothie, so it is a sneaky veggie!

Berries: Berries are packed with antioxidants and add flavor to this smoothie!

Ginger: Ginger is an anti-inflammatory and it has warming properties.

Mint Leaves: Mint has been used for centuries to soothe digestive issues like indigestion, nausea and bloating.

Manuka Honey: Manuka honey contains methylglyoxal (MGO), a naturally occurring compound with potent antibacterial activity and anti-inflammatory properties.

Protein Powder: I love adding protein powder to my smoothies so that I don’t get a big blood sugar spike. My favorite brands are Sprout Living and Truvani.

    Step-By-Step Instructions

    Step 1: Gather your ingredients.

Step 2: Blend all ingredients in a high-speed blender. Top with additional fruit and honey, if desired. Enjoy!

    Storage

If you have leftovers, feel free to store this winter smoothie in the refrigerator in an airtight container overnight.

    Variations

There are endless adaptations that can be made to this winter smoothie!

Try adding more winter fruits and vegetables: pears, cranberries, beets, apples, kiwis or oranges.

Add some winter flavors: gingerbread, cinnamon, cardamom or cloves.

Swap cold milk for warm liquid to make it a warm smoothie!

Healthy fats: Blend in avocado, nut butter or chia seeds for added creaminess and nutrients.
