How To Make Dairy-Free Filet Mignon

This dairy-free filet mignon is a delicious dinner option! Steak is typically slathered with butter, which is obviously not ideal for those of us with dairy allergies or intolerances. I’m here to tell you that you can make delicious filet mignon without the butter (over a bed of garlic mashed potatoes) and it can still taste amazing! This steak is great for date night or honestly just a random week night when you feel like being a little fancy!

Why You’ll Love This Dairy-Free Filet Mignon

    It’s dairy-free and still delicious!

    It’s easy to make.

You get to pair it with mashed potatoes (my fave)!

    Equipment Needed

All you need for this recipe is a large skillet.

Ingredients Needed For This Delicious Dairy-Free Filet Mignon

Steak: I used filet mignon from Butcher Box, which is my favorite place to get high-quality meat! If you have issues with histamine make sure your steak is not aged, it was frozen immediately and you purchase it frozen. As always, everyone can tolerate different foods/preparations so make sure you are doing what is best for your body!

Dairy-Free Butter: I think the Miyoko’s brand tastes the best! If you need low histamine, find one without cashews. You can also substitute for coconut oil.

Salt and Herbs: I love using Redmond’s Real Salt because it is natural and has no added fillers. If you use my code LESSWITHLAUR, you get 15% off of their website. I like to also use garlic on my steak as well as fresh rosemary.

How To Make This Dairy-Free Filet

Add oil to a skillet. Place steaks on skillet and cook over med-high heat for 2-3 minutes. Flip and add in butter, salt and herbs. Cook to desired doneness (I like mine well-done which I know is rare 😂). Add extra butter and garlic on top!

    Substitutions and Variations

Feel free to use herbs or spices of your choice on this delicious steak!

    Storage

This steak tastes best if it is consumed immediately!

    Recipe FAQ

Can you make this recipe nut-free?

Yes, if you use a nut-free butter then it will be nut-free.

How do you make it flavorful without butter?

I think dairy-free butter can be flavorful too if you find the right one! I also think garlic and herbs can give this steak a lot of flavor!
