These air fryer breakfast sausage patties are your answer to quick, delicious and healthier mornings. Breakfast sausage is one of my absolute favorite breakfast foods, but many sausages are highly processed and contain sugar or other additives. I love making this homemade version because it is a healthier option and I can control the ingredients I put in them. They also taste so fresh and delicious. Plus, it is such an easy recipe! Picture perfectly cooked, crispy breakfast sausage patties! The best part is that they are ready in just 15 minutes! They’re also gluten free, dairy free, paleo, AIP and egg free, but they are bursting with sweet and savory flavor. A touch of honey adds amazing flavor, while air frying them ensures a perfectly browned exterior and juicy interior. These easy sausage patties are ideal for meal prep and can be enjoyed on their own, tucked into breakfast sandwiches, served as part of a breakfast or brunch spread or crumbled over omelets. Get ready for your breakfast routine to be completely elevated! If you love an easy air fryer recipe, you should also try my air fryer gnocchi, air fryer s’mores dip and air fryer salmon bites!

    Why You’ll Love This Recipe

It is perfect for busy mornings!

This recipe is super family-friendly. This will quickly become a favorite breakfast food!

These air fryer breakfast sausage patties are the perfect mix of sweet and savory.

They are gluten free, dairy free, egg free, AIP and paleo!

This recipe is made without any additives and uses simple ingredients.

These are a great way to get some extra protein in!

They are ready in about 15 minutes!

    Equipment Needed

All you need to make these air fryer breakfast sausage patties is a mixing bowl, mixing spoon, measuring cups and spoons, parchment paper or aluminum foil and an air fryer. My favorite air fryer is the Instant Pot Duo Crisp because it doubles as both an air fryer and instant pot!

    Ingredients Needed

Ground Turkey: I used organic ground turkey to make this delicious breakfast sausage. I try to use high quality meat whenever I can! My favorite place to get meat is Butcher Box because they have organic and high quality options and it gets delivered right to your door!

Gluten Free Breading: I used Paleo Powder for this which is a gluten free and grain free breading. You can get it on Thrive Market. If you use my link, you can get 40% off your first order. You can also use any other breading here. The breading I used already has salt and spices mixed in, so if yours doesn’t, make sure to add spices and salt.

Oil: I used avocado oil here!

Honey: I love adding honey to these breakfast sausages because it gives them a delicious sweet flavor!

    Step-By-Step Instructions

    Step 1: Gather your ingredients.

Step 2: Combine all ingredients in a bowl.

Step 3: Roll sausages into balls and flatten.

Step 4: Line air fryer with aluminum foil or parchment paper. For best results, place patties in the air fryer in a single layer. Air fry patties at 375°F for 10-12 minutes until golden brown, flipping halfway through. Use a meat thermometer to make sure they reach an internal temperature of 165°F.

    Storage

If you have leftover patties, you can store them in an airtight container for 3-4 days in the refrigerator. You can also freeze them!

To reheat these homemade sausage patties, microwave them, heat them up in a pan on the stovetop, put them in the oven or pop them back into the air fryer until hot!

    Variations

Meat: I used ground turkey in this recipe but any ground meat works! Try using ground chicken, ground pork or ground beef instead.

Breadcrumbs: I used Paleo Powder in this recipe because it is paleo, AIP and gluten free! Plus, it is delicious. You can use any breadcrumbs you love!

Spices: Experiment with spices! Try out Italian spices, fennel, chili powder, cumin, smoked paprika or even hot sauce!

Sweetener: I used honey in these easy air fryer sausage patties, but you can use any type of sweetener you like! Try out maple syrup or agave. You can also skip the sweetener all together for a more savory flavor!

    Alternate Cooking Methods

If you do not have an air fryer, no worries! You can also make these breakfast sausage patties on the stove top or in the oven.

Stove Top Instructions: Heat oil in a large cast-iron skillet or pan over medium heat. Once the oil is hot and shimmering, carefully add the sausage patties to the pan. Don’t overcrowd the pan, cook them in batches if necessary to avoid them steaming instead of searing.Cook the patties for 3-4 minutes per side, or until browned and cooked through. You can peek underneath to check for browning.

Oven Instructions: Place the sausage patties on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper, ensuring they aren’t touching each other. Bake for 15-20 minutes at 400°F, depending on the thickness of your patties.

    How to Serve

Serve these air fryer breakfast sausage patties as part of a breakfast or brunch spread alongside air fryer eggs, toast, waffles, hash browns, french toast casserole and fruit! They made the perfect breakfast side dish.

These sausages are also the perfect meal prep for busy mornings. They can be easily reheated in just a couple of minutes and can also be added to breakfast sandwiches. Place a sausage patty on an English muffin and add a slice of cheese. Another delicious way to eat this homemade breakfast sausage is adding it to an egg casserole.
