    What Is Cube Steak?

Traditionally, cube steak is a thin cut of beef that’s been mechanically tenderized. This process involves pounding the meat with a tool that creates cube-shaped indentations, breaking down the muscle fibers and making it much more tender than the original cut. I called this recipe cube steak tacos because I cut the steak into cubes. Feel free to use actual cube steak or any type of steak you would like!

    Equipment Needed

All you need to make these cube steak tacos is a cast iron pan, a cutting board and a knife!

    Ingredients Needed

Steak: I used sirlion steak. My favorite place to get my meat is ButcherBox because they have organic and high-quality options and it gets delivered right to your door! You can use any kind of steak you love or have on hand in this recipe! I love how versatile it is.

Salt: My favorite salt is Redmond’s Real Salt because it is high-quality and made with zero fillers. If you use my discount code LESSWITHLAUR you can get 15% off Redmond’s website.

Garlic Powder: Garlic powder adds delicious flavor to this steak! Feel free to add additional spices or sauces if you prefer!

Toppings: I used red onion, jalapeño, tomato and radishes on these cube steak tacos. Feel free to mix up the vegetables and make this recipe your own. These tacos can be made AIP using AIP compliant toppings!

Tortillas: I used Siete tortillas here because they are gluten free and dairy free. Feel free to try these or use corn tortillas!

    Step-By-Step Instructions

    Step 1: Gather your ingredients.

Step 2: Sear steak over medium-high heat, approximately 3-4 minutes per side. Continue to cook until cooked to desired doneness.

Step 3: While steak is cooking, chop vegetables.

Step 4: Assemble tortillas by adding steak and veggies. Serve with your favorite sauces and enjoy!

    Storage

If you have leftover steak, store it in the refrigerator separate from the vegetables and tortillas for 3-4 days.

    Variations

These cube steak tacos are so easy to adapt!

Tortillas: Try out almond flour, chickpea flour or corn tortillas!

Toppings: Try adding different vegetables like sweet onions, lettuce, avocado or beans.

Sauces: Add a sauce onto your tacos. I love green enchilada sauce! You could also try crema, aioli or guacamole.

Seasoning: Try adding additional seasoning to your tacos. You can add taco spice or paprika for more of a kick!

Marinade: Add a fun marinade. Try a smoky chipotle marinade, a citrusy mojo marinade, or an Asian-inspired marinade with soy sauce, ginger and garlic.

    How to Serve

I like to serve my cube steak tacos with sides! Some of my favorites are Mexican rice, a side salad, guacamole, beans or corn salsa. Making a taco bar is also a fun way to serve these tacos for a party!
