    Why You’ll Love This Mix

It’s so easy to throw together!

This gluten free trail mix only takes 10 minutes to make.

It is the perfect snack to have on hand throughout the week.

It is gluten free and easy to customize to other dietary restrictions or allergies. It can be made dairy free or nut free!

    This mix is kid-friendly.

It is the perfect snack to put out at your next party or gathering!

This recipe is packed with nutrient-dense ingredients!

    Equipment Needed

All you need to make this gluten free trail mix is a measuring cup (or measure with your heart) and a large jar or bowl.

    Ingredients Needed

Nuts: I used cashews in this gluten free trail mix because they are one of my favorite nuts! Feel free to swap them out for a different nut. Some other options could be: macadamia nuts, hazelnuts, peanuts or almonds. If you need this mix to be nut free or you have a nut allergy, feel free to omit the nuts as well!

Dried Fruit: I used dried cranberries and dried mango in this mix to create a sweet and salty treat! Feel free to swap in your favorite dried fruit. Feel free to also omit them if you would like to reduce the sugar content in this trail mix.

Pumpkin Seeds: Pumpkin seeds are packed with nutrients and offer some plant-based protein! They are rich in monounsaturated and polyunsaturated fats and also contain fiber. Pumpkin seeds are a natural source of minerals like zinc, magnesium, iron, and phosphorus, important for various bodily functions. They are the perfect snack for a boost of energy! I used Go Raw brand because they are gluten free, vegan and also sprouted, which makes them easier to digest and the nutrients are better absorbed.

Mini Chocolate Chips: I added dairy free mini chocolate chips in my gluten free trail mix. I love the sweetness and flavor that they provide. Feel free to omit them if you would like this trail mix to be lower sugar. I used Enjoy Life brand because they are gluten free and dairy free.

Sunflower Seeds: Sunflower seeds are packed with essential nutrients to support overall health. They offer plant-based protein and fiber. They are also a natural source of vitamin E, B vitamins, magnesium, manganese, copper, and selenium, all crucial for various bodily functions.

    Step-By-Step Instructions

    Step 1: Gather your ingredients.

Step 2: Layer your ingredients in a jar or combine in a bowl. Enjoy!

    Storage

Store this gluten free trail mix in an airtight jar or container. You can also place this trail mix into individual containers or bags to take on-the-go. I love having them in individual portions to grab easily! Store for up to 1 month or follow the “best buy” date on your ingredients. You can also store this trail mix in the refrigerator to maintain optimal freshness, but honestly it will probably be gone before you know it!

Some tips for making your trail mix last longer include: using fresh and high-quality ingredients, storing away from heat and light and regularly checking for signs of spoilage.

    Variations

One of my favorite things about this gluten free trail mix is that it’s so versatile! Here are some fun flavor combinations to experiment with:

Classic Trail Mix: A timeless blend of nuts (almonds, peanuts, cashews), dried fruits (raisins, cranberries, cherries) and dark chocolate chips or gluten free chocolate candies!

Tropical Trail Mix: Escape to paradise with this mix featuring ingredients like dried pineapple, banana chips, coconut flakes, macadamia nuts and toasted pecans.

Sweet and Salty Trail Mix: This crowd-pleaser combines sweet elements like dried fruit (raisins, apricots, dates) with salty favorites like pretzels (gluten free of course), popcorn and peanuts.

Spicy Trail Mix: For those who like a kick, add some heat with chili-coated peanuts, wasabi peas, roasted chickpeas and spicy cajun pecans.

Chocolate Lover’s Trail Mix: This decadent mix features multiple types of chocolate (dark and white), paired with almonds, dried cherries and gluten free pretzels for a delightful textural contrast.

Energy Booster Trail Mix: Pack a powerful punch with ingredients like pumpkin seeds, sunflower seeds, dried goji berries, granola and dark chocolate chunks.

Kid-Friendly Trail Mix: Keep little taste buds happy with a mix of colorful cereal squares, dried fruit (raisins, banana chips), yogurt-covered raisins and gluten free pretzels.

    How to Serve

I love to store this gluten free trail mix in individual Stasher bags so that it’s easy to take on-the-go! It’s also an amazing snack to serve at parties, book clubs or gatherings! If you work from home, store it in a jar on your counter and grab some every time you need a quick snack!
