Here’s a fresh and light but creamy, Iced Blueberry Matcha Latte as a quick pick-me-up. Whip it up in a few minutes with the milk of your choice – regular milk works but I like to go dairy free. I love this as a morning sip when I wake up in the summertime and feel like something sweet – the blueberries are brimming with natural fruity sweetness and the whole thing is such a treat. As soon as you’ve made a batch of my Blueberry Syrup, this matcha latte takes no time to whip up. Once you’re on that matcha train, it’s hard to get off! Here are 3 more matcha recipes you’ll want to try: My Matcha Milkshake, this Dirty Matcha Latte and my Vanilla Matcha Latte.

    What is Matcha?

Matcha is a finely ground powder made from green tea leaves that are specially grown and processed. I use ceremonial grade matcha in this Blueberry Matcha Latte recipe.

Matcha is different from green tea in that it’s a powder, whereas green tea is made with leaves, which get steeped in water and then tossed out. With matcha, you drink the whole leaf in powder form along with all its benefits.

Matcha originated in China but became deeply entrenched in Japanese culture and lifestyle.

How To Find The Best Quality Matcha

First off, start by looking for ceremonial grade matcha. This is the best quality or grade that is designed for drinking on its own. Ceremonial tea is made from the youngest tea leaves.

It has these three important qualities I like to look for in the matcha for my Blueberry Matcha Latte recipe:

    1. Bright green color
    2. Smooth, slightly sweet flavor
    3. A silky smooth texture

For a more affordable option, go for culinary grade matcha. Try to choose one with a bright color, as neon green as possible.

    Why You’ll Love This Recipe

You can use the milk of your choice in your matcha blueberry latte, plus, its easy to make dairy free.

Matcha and blueberries are both loaded with antioxidants so its a great addition to your diet and daily routine.

With built in natural caffeine, this Blueberry Matcha Latte will give you a boost in the morning!

It’s gently sweetened wth my easy syrup made with blueberries.

This latte drink is also just so beautiful!

This Blueberry Matcha Latte recipe gets made in few minutes, it’s so quick and easy.

The blueberry sweetness with the earthy matcha is so delicious and summery.

    Equipment Needed

You’ll need a glass, a bowl and a matcha whisk for your blueberry iced matcha latte. That’s it!

    Ingredients Needed

Matcha powder: I like to use ceremonial grade matcha from Pique Life. It comes out a beautiful vibrant green hue and has the most incredible flavor.

Blueberry syrup: Try my Blueberry Syrup for a really natural, sugar free syrup that’s way better for you than store bought.

Dairy free milk: Any milk will work in your Blueberry Matcha Latte but try it with oat, almond or coconut milk.

    Step By Step Instructions

Step 1: Round up your Blueberry Matcha Latte ingredients.

    Storage

I recommend drinking this Blueberry Matcha Latte fresh for the most vibrant color and flavor. These can fade a bit and get diluted over time.

If you have leftovers, you can store them in a sealed jar or bottle in the fridge for up to 24 hours.

Give it a gentle stir before drinking to combine all of the flavors!

    Variations

Try making a warm or hot version. Skip the ice and use warm or hot milk (never boiling).

Swap out the blueberries for mixed berries like raspberries and strawberries. Make a blackberry matcha latte as a variation.

A little squeeze of fresh lemon or lime juice is really bright and fresh.

Blend in some sweet honey, maple syrup or vanilla.

Upgrade your milk in your iced Blueberry Matcha Latte to coconut milk for a rich, creamy base. So good!

    How To Serve

I like to enjoy mine freshly made. Here are some fun ways to change it up:

    • At breakfast time, get your caffeine kick for the morning.
    • As a partner to your lunch to keep you going for the afternoon.
    • With fresh garnishes like mint and blueberries.

    Recipe FAQ

What are the health benefits of matcha?

Matcha gives you a little boost without the caffeine jitters from coffee. This is because of its caffeine and l-theanine pairing. It’s also full of antioxidants.

    Does matcha have caffeine?

Yes, matcha contains caffeine. It has higher levels of caffeine than green tea as it is consumed whole (as a powder) rather than steeped as leaves and discarded.

Why isn’t my matcha bright green?

If you matcha is a dull, dark green color, it probably hasn’t been stored properly or it isn’t great quality.

What is the best kind of matcha to use?

Go for ceremonial grade matcha for any beverages. For baking and desserts, culinary grade is great (and cheaper).

Can I make this hot instead of iced?

Yes! Matcha is delicious both hot and cold.

Does matcha go well with blueberries?

Yes, very well – blueberries and matcha are a great combination. The sweet and tart berries are yummy with the grassy, earthy matcha.
