    Why You’ll Love This Recipe

Gluten Free Pigs in a Blanket are tasty grilled bites that are kid-friendly too!

You can make them ahead and freeze them unbaked.

They go really well with 2-3 appetizers for a fun summer spread.

Everyone’s always impressed by a DIY, homemade snack.

Gluten and dairy free, they tick a few allergy boxes. You can also make them egg free!

Perfect to enjoy at the pool or a backyard party.

They can be a snack or paired with a salad or bowl for a heartier main course!

    Equipment Needed

You will need 8 skewers and a grill to make these Gluten Free Pigs in a Blanket. If you are using dough from a box, you will also need a bowl and a spoon to mix the dough.

    Ingredients Needed

Hot dogs: Use your regular brand of hot dogs for these Gluten Free Pigs in a Blanket. I like to use Applegate Organic hot dogs because they are high-quality and have minimal ingredients!

Bread dough: I use gluten free bread dough (plus any ingredients needed to make the bread) in this recipe. I like to use the Simple Mills boxed bread dough.

    Step By Step Instructions

Step 1: Round up your ingredients to make these cute Gluten Free Pigs in a Blanket.

Step 2: Whip up your bread dough by following the box instructions unless you’re using a premade dough.

Step 3: Slide the hot dogs onto the skewers.

Step 4: Cut slits (3 to 4) into each hot dog for your Gluten Free Pigs in a Blanket.

Step 5: Roll the dough into long, snake-like shapes and wind them around each hot dog.

Step 6: Turn on the grill and pop the skewers onto the grill for 15 to 20 minutes. Turn the skewers halfway through. If you are using metal skewers, be careful as the metal gets really hot!

    Storage

Keep any extra Gluten Free Pigs in a Blanket in an airtight container in the fridge for about 3 days.

You can reheat them in the oven or air fryer to crisp them back up – I don’t recommend warming them in the microwave.

Sometimes I’ll freeze a batch before grilling them. They freeze well in an airtight container for around 2 months.

    Variations

Use hot and spicy sausages in your Gluten Free Pigs in a Blanket recipe!

Sprinkle some Everything Bagel Seasoning over the dough before baking.

Serve them for breakfast with a side of creamy scrambled eggs.

Add some chopped herbs like fresh thyme and rosemary to the dough.

Experiment with different types of gluten free dough!

    How To Serve

I love to serve these Gluten Free Pigs in a Blanket as a fun appetizer:

    • With a side of my Low Histamine Ketchup and some burger sauce.
    • As an appetizer for BBQs!
    • I love to serve them warm, straight off the grill.
    • They’re also great with a side of salad like this Crunchy Broccoli Salad.
