Equipment Needed
You’ll need a bowl and a grill! That’s it – so easy and minimal clean up.
Ingredients Needed
Turkey burger patties: Use good-quality turkey burgers – whatever you usually like. I prefer ones that are organic and minimal ingredients, like the Applegate brand.
Lettuce: I love crispy, crunchy and chilled lettuce in my Turkey Burger Bowls.
Pickles: What’s a burger without pickles?
Avocado: Loads the recipe up with good fats and creamy texture.
Tater tots: I love adding crispy tater tots to my bowls.
Red onion: Mild and a little sweet! You can also use red onion or sliced green onions if you like.
Bacon: Adding smoky, cooked and chopped bacon to your bowl is next-level.
Burger sauce: I love adding sauce for a creamy addition!
Step by step instructions
Step 1: Gather your ingredients.
Step 2: Heat up the grill and cook the turkey burgers.
Step 3: Add the turkey burgers to the bowl and load up with your favorite toppings.
Storage
Store your cooked turkey patties in a sealed container in the fridge for 2-4 days. I like to keep the different components of my Turkey Burger Bowls separate. The grains, chopped veggies and dressings are stored separately and in their own containers.
You can freeze cooked or uncooked turkey patties.
Variations
I love a Mediterranean version of this recipe – think fresh oregano, lemon zest and garlic. Add a dollop of dairy free or regular tzatziki on top and make sure there is loads of fresh tomato and olives too.
For a Tex-Mex version, top your Turkey Burger Bowls with black beans, fresh corn, shredded cheese and some sliced jalapenos. Chipotle mayo and some lime is perfect!
You can make a breakfast version of this with a soft boiled egg, some pan-fried spinach and don’t forget the tater tots.
How to serve
