Potatoes are my absolute favorite food. I have never met a potato that I didn't like. I have been eating gluten-free for 7 years now (more about my story here), so I am an expert at making gluten-free recipes. Potatoes are an amazing hack to make delicious gluten-free comfort food.

    Are Potatoes Gluten-Free?

Yes, potatoes are naturally gluten-free. What you need to look out for is sneaky gluten in other ingredients that are typically used in potato dishes. This is especially true if you are eating at a restaurant versus cooking at home!

The Best Potatoes For Gluten-Free Recipes

    • Russet Potatoes: These are the best for baked potatoes, mashed potatoes, soups and French fries. They are ideal for your classic gluten-free comfort food recipes.
    • Yukon Gold Potatoes: These potatoes are creamy and great for roasting. They work well for mashed potatoes, sheet pan dinners, scalloped potatoes and they have a naturally buttery flavor.
    • Red Potatoes: Red potatoes are great for roasting, potato salads and breakfast skillets because they are lower starch and hold their shape well.
    • Fingerling Potatoes: This variation is great for side dishes and sheet pans. They are also visually appealing and perfect as a gluten-free side dish.
    • Sweet Potatoes: These are a more nutrient-dense option and they're also sweeter! Sweet potatoes can typically be subbed into any potato recipe.

Choosing the right potato can make a huge difference in taste and flavor of the recipe!

    Breakfast: Gluten-Free Sweet Potato Pancakes

Start your day off right with these delicious Gluten-Free Sweet Potato Pancakes! This is the perfect option for a decadent breakfast and this recipe uses sweet potatoes for an amazing flavor and a more nutritious option.

Side Dish: Tater Tot Potato Salad

This Tater Tot Potato Salad went viral for a reason. It is the best side to bring to a summer picnic or BBQ and no one will even know or care that it's gluten-free! I added a delicious herby dressing to the top and used gluten-free tater tots. Crunchy tater tots combined with crispy bacon, bright herbs and juicy cucumber is the best flavor combination.
